If you're a fan of old movies where the windows of the mansion are open and the billowy curtains are blowing into the room as the heroine strolls by, then this is the tip for you.
You can get that exact same effect by using sheers on your windows. Choose white or ivory sheers and hang them outside the window trim and as high as possible. Hanging them high will make your ceiling seem higher. If, on the other hand, you like the look of puddled curtains on the floor, hang them at the top of the window trim. Choose a decorative curtain rod that ties in with the rest of the room's decor. Sheers will also work with blinds if you need to control the light.
I chose white sheers with sheer scarves for my living room and just sheers for my dining room.
